CWO Dave Trainor joined the military as a Vehicle Technician in May 1991. Upon finishing recruit school in Cornwallis and second language training in St-Jean, he completed his QL3 course at CFSEME Borden. A posting to CFB Gagetown followed in 1993, where he completed his QL4 training. Upon completion of QL5 training, he was posted to 2 RCR. He was promoted to MCpl in 2002 that saw him posted to 2nd line Armored Veh in Gagetown.
In 2003, he was posted to 3 RCR at 2 CMBG Petawawa where he spent the next 3 years. He was fortunate to be part of the original Maint Pl upon the stand-up of the Canadian Special Operations Regiment in 2006, where he was employed as Sect IC, Production Sgt, and Coy Ops Sgt. In 2010, upon promotion to WO, he was posted to the Royal Canadian Dragoons where he filled such jobs as Production WO, Troop WO and Con O. After a chance meeting with RSM 2 Svc Bn, CWO Trainor found himself posted to 2 Svc Bn as Bn Ops WO in 2012.
He was promoted to MWO in 2014 where he spent a year as 2 Svc Bn ETQMS before he found himself posted back to CSOR for another two years as ET. CWO Trainor was again pulled back to 2 Svc Bn in 2017 where he was appointed as CSM Maint Coy.
He has six operational tours including Bosnia, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Kuwait and twice to Latvia as part of Op REASSURANCE.
CWO Trainor was promoted to his current rank on 10 June 2019. He subsequently spent a year at the Quality Engineering Test Establishment (QETE) in Gatineau as the Unit CWO and then back to Petawawa as the RSM of Technical Services Branch. He has recently relocated to Oromocto where he has decided to carry on the great volunteer work of his mother and father at Pioneer Gardens cemetery.
